This is one of those cars that has been out since... well... forever. I always wanted to review one, and even though this one was the auto I was not going to let that deter me, and I was glad I didn’t.

I finally know what they hype is all about. I hope the Toyota86 (and the BRZ for that matter) has a long life ahead of it. And I really hope they will break down in the future and offer a turbo version.

I really wonder what OPPO thinks of the RWD coupe!

I saw both versions at an auto show last month. I liked the front of the BRZ better. Before the facelift I was one of those adamant about how the cars were the same, but now I just can’t anymore.

The heart is the same though, so you’ll always be right! I like the way both versions look, but I suppose I am a bit partial to those teeth in the lower bumper of the Toyota 86. If I had a BRZ I would not be able to stop myself from putting gold / bronze wheels on it and a massive WANG... And turbo it...

The automatic has the old (longer) gear ratio and didn’t get the updated intake manifold.

A manual is a must for these. No one who’s ridden with me at an autocross or on the track thought that mine lacks power. You have to drive the twins at the track or an autox to understand them. They aren’t stoplight cars.

I’ll be at Eagle’s Canyon Raceway in Decatur next Saturday for the SCCA Time Trials. I’m a certified instructor and can give you a ride along (you’ll have to sign the insurance waiver, but that’s it). The last guy I gave a ride there was so impressed he gave me a $20 (I was surprised, but not too proud to accept it).

My BRZ is prepped for STX autocross class so I have headers, an exhaust, and a tune for power (+10hp!) but more importantly coilovers (Ohlins), swaybars front and rear with endlinks, wheels and tires, AP Racing Sprint brake kit, a light weight (2.2lb) battery, and a bunch of bushings. The class is all about handling, so if you liked the stock setup this is like that but turned up to 11.

I loved how the one they had at the show looked. Just so simple.

I wish I had time to take you up on that! My brother will be in town from the Netherlands, and I want to spend as much time with him as possible so you might understand why I can’t make it out there!

Totally, I am registered and planning to attend all the ER and SCCA Autocross events (they can be found here: http://dfwautocross.com/ ) if you are interested in getting involved with performance driving in DFW.

You might also want to check out ECR’s next open trackday on April 14 (lots of cool cars show up), I’ll be instructing there as well but I’m not sure on their spectator policies since they have new owners (who are really cool and have given rides to people in their Porsche 911 GT3 and Cayman S track cars).

I have a real need for the BRZ in Red. Not an FR-S or an 86, has to be the BRZ (because of the front fascia). I’m particular.

And that is exactly why I love the car community! Everyone has different tastes!
